BARRY town council is asking members of the public not to leave leave valuables on Merthyr Dyfan Cemetery’s graves, following an incident on July 22.
A money box, left on a grave, was smashed open causing the family distress.
A Barry town council spokeswoman said: “It is sad that items placed on grave are subject to such disrespect by a few members of the community, but unfortunately such incidents do on occasion occur and therefore we would advise that no items of value are left on graves for this reason.
“We would ask that should you see anyone acting in what you perceive to be a suspicious way at the cemetery that you inform the staff.”
