372 (Barry) Squadron Air Training Corps recently held their dining in night at HMS Cambria.

The evening was the opportunity to formally entertain guests of the squadron, with over 80 officers, instructors, cadets and ex-cadets attending.

The cadets and squadron staff were joined by several guests including Wing Commander Ken Pudney (Officer Commanding No1 Welsh Wing), Glyn Cheshire (Deputy Officer Commanding MOD St Athan), Doug Provis (a founder Cadet of 372 Squadron in 1941) and Squadron Leader Roger Beech (No 1 Welsh Wing Sports Officer).

The Mr Vice on the night was Cadet Lachlan Davies the newest cadet on the squadron. Lachlan’s responsibility on the night was to assist the commanding officer with the smooth running of the evening and to entertain the guests after dinner.

After dinner, Wing Commander Pudney gave an entertaining speech to the cadets and guests and also to present the annual NCO of the Year trophy to Corporal Jake Paterson for his hard work and dedication during the last year.

The cadets thoroughly enjoyed the annual dining in night, learning about the traditions upheld within the Royal Air Force.

Cadet Rhys Lewis said: “At first I really nervous about the evening and all the traditions we had to remember. It was great fun and I can’t wait until next years dining in night.”

The cadets are now looking forward to an action packed and challenging training programme including flying, gliding, shooting, archery, sport, hill craft, Duke of Edinburgh and leadership training in what promises to be another busy and exciting year ahead.
