FRIENDS and Neighbours and Age Connect Barry volunteers had an excellent day at the Houses of Parliament having been invited by Alun Cairns MP.

They enjoyed a very memorable tour of the magnificent building amazed at the architectural features, stained glass and paintings. The building from the outside was breathtaking and it seemed very special to be in a place that had changed the course of history. They were shown the famous Chapel of St Mary Undercroft and the famous broom cupboard where Emily Pankhurst hid.

The group then took time to have lunch before they went to The House of Commons and had the opportunity to see a debate and watch Parliament in action. At the end of the tour the group went onto the terrace and enjoyed a glass of wine tea and coffee and had the opportunity ask Alun Cairns questions and enjoyed taking in the magnificent view of The River Thames, Big Ben and London Eye.
