CUSTOMERS at Barry McDonalds were given food for thought when MP Alun Cairns held a surgery at the restaurant.

The surgery was such a success that more are already being planned.

While at the Cardiff Road McDonalds discussing issues with constituents, Mr Cairns met with franchisee David Balcombe.

David said: “I’m really pleased to be able to work together with Mr Cairns to give local members of the community the chance to discuss any issues they have in the comfort of our restaurant.

"It was a really successful event which overran due to the number of local constituents keen to speak to Alun. Moving forward, we’re going to hold MP surgeries every quarter.”

During the visit Mr Cairns said: “I hold regular surgeries across Barry and the Vale but I’m keen to be available to those who don’t usually think of approaching their MP for help so I was delighted when the opportunity arose to hold it at McDonald’s in Barry.

"On Saturday, I spoke to several constituents who raised a whole range of issues from health to the state of the economy.

“I felt it was a really successful event and plan to do more in the future, especially because the environment seemed less intimidating than a village hall.

Some people just came to see how it worked and the relaxed atmosphere supported their engagement.

"It was a pleasure to meet David and his team and I would like to thank them for allowing us to hold the surgery at the restaurant.”
