THE Vale Labour group has given its support to the campaign to keep Scotland as part of the UK.

Scotland's Shadow Secretary of State Margaret Curran, joined Vale Labour’s Westminster Chris Elmore and Assembly Member Jane Hutt in Barry to speak to residents about what a united UK Labour government could do for families across the Vale.

Commenting on Ms Curran’s visit, Councillor Elmore said: “It is absolutely critical that Scotland remains in the UK. We are stronger together than we are alone.

"We know that if the nationalists ever got their way, the damage done to the Welsh economy would be irreversible.

“We were pleased to be joined by Margaret Curran to talk about the difference that we can make by making our economy fairer for hard working families across the Vale of Glamorgan who are now much worse off since 2010. We can only do this if the UK stays together.

“We are very pleased to support the campaign to keep the Union together."
