GENEROUS shoppers at a Barry supermarket recently contributed to a team effort to collect donations for the Vale Food Bank.

Barry Rotary Club members joined team members of the Barry & Vale Food Bank at the beginning of this month to help collect food donations from Tesco customers outside the Port Road store, Barry.

The Rotary Club of Barry has been supporting the Barry & Vale Food Bank for two years, purchasing food to be donated so they can make full use of any offers available.

Increasing demand on the Food Bank Service has led to the Rotary Club of Barry increasing their giving to £1000 of food per Rotary year.

Increasing demand for access to the Food Bank has also meant the small room in the church they were originally used was no longer suitable to accommodate food supplies so the Barry & Vale Foodbank has taken a short lease on an industrial facility and the Rotary Club of Barry has purchased shelving and working with the local company that supplied it, they have fitted it free of charge.

Both organisations thankedTesco for their assistance and the general public for their continued support.

The Rotary Club of Barry meets weekly in the Mount Sorrel Hotel from 6pm to 6.30pm on Thursdays.
