VALE MP Alun Cairns has gained agreement from Lidl Supermarket to secure their car park in Pencoedtre Village, in a bid to prevent problematic ‘joy riders’.

Local residents contacted the Vale MP expressing concern that the car park was being used by a small number of young drivers as a race track. Alun Cairns approached the store to gain agreement to secure it after the supermarket is closed at night.

Lidl has agreed to the request, for which the MP and residents are very grateful.

Mr Cairns said: “Whilst out knocking on doors to establish local concerns, I was approached by residents, who highlighted the issue of joy riders in the Lidl car park at night.

“I am delighted that the store responded positively and I that this will put residents minds at rest against future joy riders.”
