A CAMPAIGN for a new relief road to be built on the Council Depot in Court Road in Barry is stepping up.
Local Independent Councillor Richard Bertin is asking the Vale of Glamorgan Council to consult with the public over plans to build housing and include a relief road.
He says the consultation should begin at the earliest opportunity.
The idea has sparked a lot of interest from residents in the town who would like to see a new road built.
Cllr Bertin said: “We all must work together to ensure that Barry gets this vital North/South link road.
“This would be a wonderful opportunity for the Vale to deliver this road and ease congestion in the area.
“To do this, we need the Vale Council to consider this as part of its plans for housing on the Court Road Council Depot site. This road would certainly make life easier for Hannah Street, Jenner Park School and the surrounding areas who suffer with traffic problems.”
