A GROUP of Barry Island RNLI lifeguards had a break from their normal office routine when TV personality John Barrowman dropped in on Sunday, July 6.
The Whitmore Bay crew - RNLI lifeguards Robbie Thompson, Rhys Phillips, Rhys Parry and Ashley Lewis were providing safety cover on the beach when they were approached by all-round entertainer John who was visiting the area.
RNLI lifeguard Robbie Thompson said: “As RNLI lifeguards we get the chance to meet people from across the country as part of our work offering safety advice and assistance on the beaches - but we didn’t expect to meet John Barrowman during our safety cover on Barry Island yesterday afternoon! He approached us at the lifeguard unit and kindly agreed when we asked for a photo – he was a really nice guy.”
RNLI lifeguards provide a daily safety service on Whitmore Bay from 10am to 6pm throughout the summer season.
