A MAN who was found selling food illegally on Barry Island, refused to cease trading and told council officers they could prosecute him, has been prosecuted.
Cardiff man Timothy Kelly, the owner of a food unit that appeared on Barry Island on Bonfire NIght last year, was charged with trading without permission.
Kelly was selling food on Cosy Corner, on November 5 2013, when he was approached by Licensing Officers who were monitoring street trading during the Rotary Club firework display.
Kelly was advised that he was committing an offence by trading without having obtained consent from the Vale of Glamorgan council.
He was further advised to cease trading, he refused and told the officers that they could prosecute him.
He was fined £300, disqualified from driving for four weeks and ordered to pay £500 costs. The fine and costs are to be paid within 14 days.
