TWO Barry youngsters have been recognised for their achievements by a leading anti-bullying charity.
Jessica Pritchard and Bethan Klee, both 11, from Barry were awarded for their bravery and commitment at the BulliesOut national awards ceremony at Cardiff City Stadium.
The girls were given Junior Achievement Awards for their work in the BulliesOut Young Ambassador programme, which trains young people to highlight anti-bullying issues in their communities.
Participating in a range of anti-bullying activities, they have raised awareness of bullying, provided support to their peers and fundraised over £300.
BulliesOut Chief Executive Linda James MBE said: "The Pride Awards recognise and celebrate young people’s achievements.
"Through their campaign work, they develop life skills, confidence and self-esteem. They also promote good practice in schools and encourage participation and social inclusion.
"They are outstanding young people and I’m so proud of all of them.”
Linda launched BulliesOut in 2006 as an online mentoring and discussion service for young people. Since then, it has grown to help over 7,500 children and young people each year through workshops and mentoring, trained 900 young people as peer mentors and run workshops on bullying awareness for 750 professionals working with children and young people.
