WORK on a 50-bed nursing home in Barry has ground to a halt, and machinery removed from site, due to a planning issue regarding drainage.

The development, at Crystal Springs, Coldbrook Road East, Cadoxton, Barry, was given the green light by the Vale council’s planning committee in 2011 with work required to begin within five years of the application being granted.

Constructors moved in this year, but residents reported work had halted in April with the machine removed last week.

Vale Council operational manager for development control, Marcus Goldsworthy said: “There remains a condition to be discharged with regard to drainage at the Crystal Springs site. The council has agreed levels for the site but there have been no further developments.

“A Vale of Glamorgan Council officer has visited the site and did not witness any work being undertaken. The site will be continually monitored to ensure no further works are being carried out until the outstanding drainage condition has been discharged.”
