A PROLONGED attack on a taxi driver has landed a Barry man a prison sentence.
At Cardiff Magistrates' court Ashley Alexander Greening, 20, of Irving Place, Barry was sentenced to 16 weeks in a young offenders institute for the assault, which took place on Saturday, April 12 at Broad Street, Barry.
The assault, described as a "deliberate attack on a public servant" involved Greening biting and headbutting the victim, a 1st Line Taxi's driver.
The custodial sentence was handed out due to the serious nature of the offence and to Greening's record of previous offending.
The court also made Greening the subject of a restraining order, banning him from contacting the victim, from using 1st Line Taxis and attending or loitering outside the firm's premises.
