A BARRY park is tuning up for one of the town’s biggest annual parties – when Cadstock 2014 hits the ground strumming this month.

The Vale’s best local bands will take to the bandstand stage, Victoria Park, Cadoxton, from 1pm on both Saturday, July 12 and Sunday, July 13.

The free festival will this year see 10 more of Barry’s finest bands hoping for a repeat of 2013’s fabulous sunny weather.

Park manager, John Greatrex, said: “We have a wicked weekend for you with the best local bands, playing the best live music. The line-up for Saturday starts with a bluesy set from Blues Central, a great mix of traditional and modern blues. Then we welcome the Facebook favourites from Cadstock 2013, the superb Back to November. Don’t miss out, these four young guys they are going places. Following them a change of pace as hi-energy punk rockers Green Haze bounce onto the stage to bring you their tribute to Green Day, these guys have some energy. Next up and its glam rock with Barry’s own wild haired spandexaholics 12 Bore playing some hard rock in their own hairy style. Finally, headline band Whiskey Lies come to Cadstock for the first time to rock the park and finish off Saturday with a set you don’t want to miss.

Sunday afternoon and we are straight back into festival mode with a full day of rock and blues. First up a set from old Barry stalwarts Out on License (most of them will recognise Padded Cells main men in disguise). Following on are The Relics. Darren and the guys missed out on playing at last year’s Cadstock so we are all chuffed to have them here this year.

Then pin back your ears as Stonehouse take the stage again, wild-haired frontman Ben says he wants to rock your socks off this year, so get on up and dance to some rock classics.

The festival closes with Cadstock favourites, and Barry’s favourite sons The Underdogs and Outback.

Bouncy castles, activities, craft stalls, ice creams, refreshments and the special Cadstock cake stall will be in abundance and JPL Sound will again be providing the PA , guaranteeing superb festival sound.
