MERTHYR Dyfan Cemetery in Barry will have been in existence for 125 years this year. To mark this Barry Town Council will be holding an open day at Merthyr Dyfan Cemetery on September 13, at which it is hoped a number of organisations will be there to help commemorate this and more information on this will be made available near the time.

As part of those commemorations it has been agreed that Barry Town Council will be holding an art competition. The theme of the competition will be “Barry Through the Ages 1889-2014” and is open to all. The entries may take the form of artwork or photography and there will also be a separate competition for the schools on the same theme.

The will be a prize of £125 for the winning entry which will be judged after the closing date of July 11.

All entries should be sent to: The Clerk, Barry Town Council, 7 Gladstone Road, Barry, CF62 8NA.

For further information on this competition contact Mrs Norman on 01446 704920.
