THE opening act of this year's Glastonbarry festival has been selected after a Battle of the Bands on Barry Island.
At an event held at Barry Island Sports and Social Club nine local acts competed for the chance to be the first act at this years festival, which takes place on Saturday, July 26.
The judges panel, consisting of local musicians Edan Edwards, Darren and Leon Hartley, BRO Radio presenter Jason Marshall and Richard Cooke from event sponsors Ewemove.com, had a tough time choosing between the acts such was the high standard of performances in front of a packed crowd.
The eventual winners were acoustic duo Sarah and Nia, with four piece band We Are Chemistry taking second place.
Sarah and Nia will now open the Glastonbarry festival, which is being held at Romilly Park.
Glastonbarry 2014 will feature acts such as the UK's number one Madness tribute act Ultimate Madness and Europe's number one Bob Marley tribute act among many, many others.
