GAVIN & Stacey actor Steffan Rhodri was at Barry Island on Sunday (June 15) swapping his Dave Coaches persona to fundraise for a mammoth cycling challenge.
Steffan, best known for portraying Nessa’s fiancé in the award-winning comedy and Reg Cattermole in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I, set out his stall exchanging Nessa-inspired T-shirts, photographs and autographs for donations in aid of the Velindre Cancer Care Centre, in Cardiff.
Steffan will cycle more than 320 miles from Boston to New York over a course of five days.
Steffan said he was hoping the challenge would raise more than £5,000 and admitted it had so far been difficult to find time to fit training in.
He said: “Everyone knows what Velindre does, it’s a good cause and I’ve had a few friends visit there recently.”
“The closest I’ve done is ride on a horse from North Wales to Ogmore in three weeks. That was tough going, but the horse was doing all the work.
The challenge begins on September 15.
