THE Vale cabinet has agreed to issue a temporary licence to Barry Town United ahead of their pre-season friendly match against Cardiff City, as well as their wildcard fixture in the FAW Word Cup against old rivals Merthyr Town.
Barry Town United will play Cardiff City at Jenner Park on August 5 (Kick off 7pm) and afterwards there will be a question and answer session with officials of Cardiff City in the Clubhouse.
In addition, Barry Town United was given a wildcard entry into the FAW Word Cup, which features teams from the Welsh Premier League, Welsh League Division One and the Cymru Alliance, where they were drawn against old rivals Merthyr Town, a match scheduled for August 11.
The temporary licence will support Barry Town United in these two fixtures, and allow hospitality arrangements to be introduced in the stadium for the both of these games.
The licence will only be issued for four weeks and the clubhouse will be returned to the council on August 14. The council will take a decision on the long term future of the clubhouse later this year.
Cllr Gwyn John said he was delighted that the council are able to help Barry Town United AFC to host these significant matches for the club.
