A BARRY housing development is on course for a national industry award after scooping the prestigious regional prize.

Taylor Wimpey’s Golwg Y Coed development was named Best high volume new housing development at the Local Authority Building Control (LABC) South Wales Building Excellence Awards, at the Vale Hotel in Cardiff.

The 67 home development is now in the running for the overall prize in its category at the national LABC Building Excellence Awards.

Production director for Taylor Wimpey South Wales, Peter Pettit said: “It’s a fantastic achievement to win this award.

“This is the culmination of an impressive team effort from everyone involved in the site – from those who designed it, to the contractors, the site management team and everyone in the sales team.”

The team included assistant site manager Bridget Warlow Penman, sales executives Louise Rees and Sheila Tuck, production manager Alwyn Thomas, sales manager Joanna Russell, technical project manager Alex Daley and senior quantity surveyor Ian Dunn.
