A VIDEO promoting Barry and what it has to offer has proved an internet hit – scoring more than 3,400 views so far on YouTube.

The short film titled Barry Town Council – Living In Barry 2014 lasts just over two minutes and was funded to the tune of £12,000 as part of the council’s New Initiative Scheme which aims to support local organisations and ideas that are out of the ordinary.

The film took a year to produce.

Town Clerk, Cliff Lewis said: “This is aimed at improving the council’s image to the people of Barry and beyond.

“It had to be something not your normal run of the mill. GlastonBARRY – we are the main sponsors of that.

He added: “I think the video is brilliant. It talks up Barry instead of talking it down for a change. The council is taking a positive step to get people on board and doing no more than a lot of the community council’s in the country trying to help everybody and supporting them.

Project Manager and director, Mike Smith said the footage had been obtained throughout the year and the editing process had taken around 55 hours.

He said: “I hope the videos inspire people to visit Barry and for those who live here to appreciate what Barry has to offer.”
