TRADERS in a Barry shopping district have formed a committee aimed at championing themselves as a top independent retail destination.
High Street traders are hoping to woo customers by promoting the popular road as the ‘premier independently owned shopping area in the Vale of Glamorgan.
The chairwomen of the committee will be a “coalition” of Mandy Caddy, of Premani, and Louise Edwards, BeeSpoke Cycles, with Danielle Ball, of Belle Moi, as secretary.
A spokesman said: “High Street is definitely on the up at the moment. There’s a good buzz in the street, with a number of new businesses recently opened and a few more in the pipeline.”
He added: “We are working closely with the Vale of Glamorgan’s new town centres development officer, to raise public awareness of the personal, quality service that High Street has to offer, something that you don’t find in big chain stores.”
