AN AWARD-WINNING Barry restaurant is all prepped and ready to take part in a foodie adventure.

The Gallery, in Broad Street, Barry, will feature in the June menu of Food Adventure tours courtesy of the company, which launched in May, which aims to provide food tours containing behind-the-scenes visits to vineyards, farms, restaurants and hotels across many popular south Wales foodie destinations, with the chance to meet independent and local producers and sample their produce.

The Aberdare-based business is the brainchild of husband and wife team Carol and Mark Adams who are behind the successful Corpulent Capers food blog and have been blogging about the food culture in Wales for more than seven years.

The couple hope the venture will help others understand where exceptional produce comes from and share what they’ve learnt over the years of running their popular food blog.

Food Adventure will offer either a full or half-day tour, including lunch at a top foodie destination in South Wales.

The Gallery’s input begins on June 14 with a foraging and lunch tour and a morning of foraging with master forager, Henry Ashby who supplies The Gallery with foraged foods as well as a handful of other top restaurants in Wales.

The foraging will be followed by a three course lunch featuring foraged foods at The Gallery where chef and owner Barnaby Hibbert who will give a private cooking demonstration.

Re-Veal: Putting Ethical Rose Veal Back on the Plate will take place at Marcross Farm, in the Vale, on June 28.

The tour will focus on how a sibling team rear rose veal ethically, and feature a three-course veal lunch at The Gallery Restaurant, Barry, complete with a cooking demonstration.

Chef and owner of The Gallery, Barnaby Hibbert, said: “We are honoured to be the featured restaurant of the June Food Adventure tour. I’m very passionate about our local suppliers, and it’s a great idea to give the public a chance to find out more about the inspirational food producers and restaurants responsible for Wales having such a vibrant foodie scene.”

Director of Food Adventure, Carol Adams said: “I’m extremely excited be working with The Gallery. They have been awarded the highest 3 gold start accolade from the Sustainable Restaurant Association and have been recognised as an exemplar for food sourcing. They cook beautiful honest food and the restaurant is warm and welcoming.”
