DESPITE a showstopping performance - that even impressed Simon Cowell - Ysgol Gyfun Bro Morgannwg schoolgirl Jodi Bird has narrowly missed out on a place in the Britain's Got Talent final.

Jodi's spectacular rendition of Let it Go, from the soundtrack to Disney's Frozen, was met with a standing ovation from the live studio audience and unanimous praise from the judges on Tuesday (May, 27) night.

Viewers at home voted the Penarth16-year-old into the top three acts, along with gothic dance troupe The Addict Initiative and fellow singer James Smith.

James was sent into the final and Jodi lost out to The Addict Initiative via the judges vote, with only Amanda Holden voting to send her into the final.

Despite this decision all four judges were keen to praise Jodi, telling her that she was destined for a career on stage.

Earlier in the night Amanda Holden described the performance as "utterly faultless" and even Simon Cowell expressed acclaim for Jodi, who he had previously interrupted just seconds into her audition to air his displeasure.

Speaking on the live show he told Jodi she definitely had a career in musical theatre ahead of her. "You're fantastic, " he said.

"What I like about you is you are fearless. You are made of titanium, you know who you want to be as an artist."

After the show social media was awash with viewers convinced that the judges had made the wrong choice and many calling for Jodi to be entered into the final through the judges' Wildcard choice, which is yet to be determined.

On top of performing on Britain's Got Talent, Jodi is currently studying for her GCSEs and will also star in the Superstars in the Making performance of Hairspray at the Barry Memo Arts Centre this August.
