BARRY Scouts and Guides took part in the annual St George Service, held at St Mary's Church, Holton Road Barry.

At this year's event the opportunity was taken to mark the centenary of World War One.

The service was attended by Scout and Guide groups from across Barry, HM Lord Lieutenant, High Sheriff , members of the Royal British Legion, RAFA, RNA , RMA , many other Ex-service organisations and a number of invited dignitaries. The service was conducted by Father Ben Andrews.

This year's service also marked the 11th Barry Sea Scout Group's 90th year.

Following the service the congregation assembled on Kings Square before parading down to the Cenotaph where a short service was held in memory of those Scouts and Guides from around the worlds that gave their lives during the Great War and other conflicts since. Wreaths were laid by the various dignitaries as well as the British Legion, the RAFA and members of the Scouts and Guides.
