THREE local residents have won a life-changing sailing experience following the launch of the Barry Marine Youth Award 2014 by Barry Town Council and the Tall Ships Youth Trust.
Mabli Evans, Sasha Atkinson and Louis Davies will receive a sponsored voyage, in UK waters, sailing as a member of the crew aboard the tall ship Stavros S Niarchos at the end of August. They will experience the opportunity to make new friends, enjoy new and unique challenges and sail aboard a magnificent ocean going square rigged tall ship.
Councillor Claire Curtis (Town Mayor 2013/14) said: “The Town Council, in partnership with the Tall Ships Youth Trust, was proud to sponsor the Barry Marine Youth Award to provide this opportunity to young Barry residents. The council intend to repeat this award next year and any individuals interested in applying for next year’s award are advised to look out for details in the local newspapers and on the Town Council’s website during February 2015.”
