SHOPPERS are being warned to stay vigilant following a string of purse thefts from Morrisons in Barry.
Neighbourhood Beat Manager PC Nicola Owen said: “We have seen a number of purse thefts from handbags recently and we believe opportunist thieves are walking around supermarkets and trying their luck on handbags left in trollies unattended.
"I would urge shoppers to be mindful of where your purse is. Do not leave your bag unattended and zips open. By leaving your purse on display you are significantly increasing the chances of you becoming a victim of crime.
“Officers have stepped up patrols in the store and surrounding areas in order to prevent and detect further offences.”
