AN author will be signing copies of his new book, a look at the Vale of Glamorgan during the Roman invasion, at Barry library later this month.
Karl-James Langford, from Barry has seen his work "The Romans in the Vale of Glamorgan" published after years of hard work, with a cover painted by artist and fellow Barrian Nicola Hay.
Karl described the book as being put together "like a jigsaw, fitting pieces together in the correct places, aiming to unravel and understand some of the mysteries of the past."
He said: "The book takes us through the Roman occupation in Wales and how they realized what a rich land this is, with its natural woodland, metal ores, fertile oils, fresh water springs and sheltered harbours.
"There is more known about the times before and during the Roman invasion than the 600 years following the gradual collapse of the Roman Administration in Britain, approximately 407 CE.
"We then see how the Normans invading the Vale of Glamorgan around 1093 CE, renewed the enthusiasm for Wales' natural assets and made improvements at administrative and social levels."
On Tuesday May, 27 Karl will be signing copies of the book at Barry library between 11am and 1pm
Copies cost £12 through Amazon, or through Archaeology Cymru by post - Canon Hill Pottery, Canon Street, Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, CF62 7RH. Cheques payable to Archaeology Cymru for £12.
