A SECTION of the upper footpath on Barry Island’s eastern promenade has been temporarily closed while repairs are undertaken.
Visitors will be able to access a route around the path via the nearby car park during its opening hours.
In order to ensure the safety of the public the footpath itself will be briefly closed.
Construction firm WRW have said that repairs to the section of pathway, which has begun to move and crack in places, will be made as soon as possible.
Rob Thomas, Director of Development Services, said: “We take the safety of visitors to Barry Island very seriously and so we have taken the precaution of closing the footpath while it is repaired.
"Contractors have advised us that the path and new stairway will be open by the end of the month.”
