A WENVOE man will be running five miles to raise funds for cystic fibrosis research, inspired by a colleague's daughter.

Fifty-nine-year-old Brian Greaves will take part in the Cardiff Bay Five, on Monday, May 5, as part of a seven strong team from the construction firm Costain, where he works as a senior community relations manager.

Brian said: “It is the eighth year the company has fundraised for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust by taking part in many events including the Cardiff Bay Five run, a half marathon and the 65 Roses Roes Ball in Cardiff.

"We have raised £30,000 to date and hope a Christmas charity event later in the year will boost the amount.

“A colleague who has a daughter with CF inspired us to make the Cystic Fibrosis Trust our preferred charity and we believe that with research and financial support the condition will be beaten."

Money raised will enable the Cystic Fibrosis Trust to invest in cutting-edge research to develop better treatments and, ultimately find a cure. It will also provide support to those with cystic fibrosis and their families and help the Trust to drive up standards in medical care.
