DOG owners could be liable to a fine of up to £500 if their pooches stray onto some Vale beaches from May 1 until September 30.
The annual restriction affects Barry Island, Cold Knap, Penarth, Southerndown, and Llantwit Major beaches.
The bye-law has been in operation since 2001.
Guide dogs are permitted on beaches, if accompanying a registered blind person.
