A COMMUNITY cafe will mark its second anniversary by hosting two open days while launching a new initiative celebrating love and friendship.

The Old Post Office cafe, Holton Road, Barry, will host activities for adults on Friday, May 9 with a family event on Saturday, May 10, from 10am to 3pm.

The initiative - Cariad ar Waith - is Welsh for Love in Action and the charity was established in February this year.

Cafe owner Lisa Eveleigh said: “Cariad ar Waith is a safe place for people to get their life back on track

“Anyone is welcome; we are friends of all ages from various backgrounds

“It is a very safe, welcoming and friendly environment.”

44-year-old Lisa, who runs the cafe and workshops, has fought anxiety and depression for years and said she knew how debilitating the conditions could be.

She said: “Our aim is to help people to regain some balance and happiness in their lives by participating in workshops. Friendships grow along with confidence and self esteem.”

The groups so far include arts and crafts, crochet, healthy eating, knitting, and sewing.
