AN ARTS scheme which helps budding filmmakers into the entertainment industry is coming to Barry.

It's My Shout will be making a short film in Barry for broadcast on BBC Wales, and anyone interested in helping out in front of or behind the camera is encouraged to get involved.

In partnership with Barry YMCA, BBC Wales and the Arts Council Wales, It's My Shout are launching their new project and aiming to give young people the hands-on experience of being involved with a production.

A spokesman explained: "Young people will be offered production and acting opportunities on the film, giving them the chance to discover what working on a set is like as well as meeting people in the industry who can provide advice and guidance on pursuing the film and television industry."

As well as gaining a broadcast credit, those involved will also be invited to a premiere of the Barry film and others in the “Made in Wales” series at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff, as part of a festival.

The Festival will also involve lectures and workshops from industry professionals, networking opportunities, the chance to perform or engage with other creative activities, tours of studios and sets in south Wales and information sessions.

The It's My Shout information and registration evening is on Thursday, May 8, at Barry YMCA from 7pm.
