MORE than 30 people visited Macmillan Cancer Support’s mobile service during its recent stop in Barry.

34 people visited the service at Kings Square on Monday 7 April.

Visitors received free, confidential information and support relating to cancer from the service.

As treatments improve, more and more people are living with cancer in their daily lives.

Macmillan’s mobile information units travel around the UK visiting local communities, providing cancer information and advice on the ground.

Last year, they travelled around 2,700 miles in Wales visiting every health board and local authority area to provide information and support to people affected by cancer.

Susan Morris, general manager for Macmillan Cancer Support in Wales, said: “We would like to thank everyone who visited our mobile service during its stop in Barry.

“The response from people was really positive, some visitors just wanted a chat, or to pick up some information leaflets and some had more complex medical or financial questions.”

More than 4,700 people in the Vale of Glamorgan are living with or beyond cancer.[i]
