LAST month Bryn Hafren pupils contributed to Sport Relief along with many other schools around the Vale, report Carys Slack, Emily Owen and Jamey Pengilley for the Barry & District News.
Bryn Hafren held three different events in order to raise money for Sport Relief. Pupils paid £1 to enter the run a mile or swim a mile. Also there was a cake sale that altogether raised £529 nearly £100 more than in 2012.
Pupils ran the mile around the school field throughout the day and a number of pupils also swam a mile in the pool in the afternoon.
Miss Williams, head of PE said: “I am thrilled with the effort made by all the girls today.”
Susan Evie Huxemburg, year 7 said: “It was lovely to see so many pupils and teachers of Bryn Hafren taking part in the Sport Relief mile. Unfortunately I didn’t take part in the mile but I bought a cake in the sale and it was delicious.”
Sport Relief was a great success and all the money raised went to good causes across the globe.
