THE discovery of a dead dog in a Vale lane is being investigated by the RSPCA.

The emaciated body of a brown female Doberman was found dumped at the side of a lane in Penmark on Tuesday, March 25.

She was wrapped in three distinctive duvets and had a docked tail, she was not wearing a collar and had not been microchipped.

RSPCA Inspector Christine McNeil said: ”This poor dog had probably died within 24 hours of her body being found. She was painfully thin and all of her bones were protruding but she hadn’t suffered any visible injuries.

“Sadly, as she wasn’t microchipped, there is no way of tracing her owners at the moment.

"We think someone in the area may recognise her or indeed the duvets and if so I would urge them to contact us as soon as possible as I am deeply concerned about what happened to this dog.”

Anyone with any information is urged to contact the inspector’s information line in confidence on 0300 123 8018 leave a message for Inspector McNeil.
