ON Friday, February 28, the people of Barry were entertained to a night of wonderful singing by the Three Choirs of Barry; the Barry Ladies Choir, The Barry Choral Society and the Barry Male Voice Choir.

The concert at St Mary’s Church, Barry was organised by the Mayor of Barry Cllr Claire Curtis in aid of her charities of the year The Jam Fund and Ty Hapus.

As well as being entertained by two sets from each choir and a an opening and closing song which saw all choristers come together, the audience were also treated to two performances from a young and up and coming star and a pupil at Ysgol Gyfun Bro Morgannwg Jodi Bird. Jodi was also thrilled to join the Barry Ladies Choir to sing “Joyful Joyful” from the west end hit Sister Act.

Cllr Curtis said: “I cannot thank the three choirs and Jodi enough for giving their time not only on on Friday evening but their commitment over the last couple of months to rehearsals and the logistics of organising the concert. The audience were treated to an excellent programme ranging from Welsh and African compositions to classical and west end songs. I would also like to thank everyone who supported the event and helped raise funds for the two charities. A big thank you also to Father Ben for allowing us to use St Mary’s as the venue for the concert”.
