TEAMWORK: Youngsters get involved in Ramp Up the Red Day to raise cash for the British Heart Foundation

ON Friday, February 7, pupils from Bryn Hafren paid £1 each to swap their school uniform for red clothes to support the British Heart Foundation's National Ramp Up the Red Day.

The school raised a total of £667.

There were many events on throughout the day including face painting by 10AE in the beauty salon. Pupils paid 30p each to have hearts painted on their faces, they raised £17.05.

At break time 9SP held an "Eat Red" break to raise money for the Children's Cardiac Unit in the Heath Hospital. They sold lots of different types of food and drink - all in red packaging.

Carys Slack, 9SP, said: "We had lots of fun doing the cake break and it was even better knowing we were raising money for a good cause. The class raised a record total of £210.51."

Their form tutor, Mrs Paulakis, said: "The girls all helped to sell things at break time and were happy to take part in the fundraising, I am very proud of their efforts, we have sold out."
