PARENTS with children studying the Second World War at school might be pleased to learn that the Glamorgan Wartime Heritage Centre will be open this Wednesday afternoon, providing an affordable all-weather educational attraction.
Based at the Barry Island Railway Station, the wartime museum features a real life Second World War air raid shelter, and Glamorgan’s only ‘Great War Trench Experience’. Children can learn about Barry’s Blitz and take a trip back in time to the Great War, ahead of this year's Centenary.
The tiny museum aims to be hands-on, and its volunteers actively encourage the next generation of historians.
So whether the kids are studying wartime history at school, or you just want to take them to an interesting local attraction that is educational, why not take a trip to this Barry Island based museum.
Admission is free, and the museum is open from 2pm to 4pm.
