A CORPORAL from Barry has represented the Welsh Cavalry at a meeting of the Welsh regiments in the House of Commons.
Corporal James Petre of the Queen's Dragoon Guards was welcomed to Parliament by MP Alun Cairns.
Corporal Petre, of College Place, Barry has served twice in Afghanistan and Vale MP Alun Cairns was keen to hear of his experiences.
He said: “It was an absolute privilege to welcome Corporal Petre to the House of Commons. Without question, he is a model of the best of the British Army.
"I first worked with the Queen Dragoon Guards 18 months ago when we were fighting to save the regiment from the reduction in the size of the armed forces.
“Corporal Peter was using the visit to the UK to also travel back to Barry to see his family.
“We owe a huge debt to people like Corporal Petre who give so much on our behalf.”
