AN APPLICATION to transform a Vale Council four storey office building into social housing has been approved by the authority’s planners.
The Vale Council planning committee last week (February 13) gave the green light to a Newydd Housing Association scheme to convert Haydock House, on the corner of Buttrills and Holton Road, to 15 affordable dwellings and a retail unit.
The premises is currently occupied by Vale of Glamorgan Council Children and Family Services.
12 one-bedroom flats and three two-bedroom flats will be constructed with a retail unit on the ground floor together with five parking spaces for residents.
A single storey front extension will be built following the demolition of the existing access ramps to the front and a four storey rear extension to accommodate a new flight of stairs.
The building will be re-clad.
The developer is required to pay £10,000 to contribute towards the enhancement sustainable transport facilities in the area and £24,000 to contribute towards the enhancement of public open space
