HOUSEBUILDERS Taylor Wimpey has cemented first place at an award ceremony, for its popular Golwg y Coed development in Barry.

The development of 67 homes won the top prize in the new dwellings category of the Vale of Glamorgan Council Building Excellence Awards, an annual event which recognises high building standards, as well as good practice in meeting environmental, communication and disability requirements.

Golwg y Coed won special praise from the judges for the site team’s commitment to excellent customer service and for the developer’s good relationship with the council’s building control team.

The judges’ report said: “Despite the hectic nature of volume house building, this site always gave the impression of being organised and well run, with great attention paid to health and safety of site operatives and the public.

"The completed site has enhanced the overall appearance of this part of Barry town.”

Sara Taylor, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey, said: “We’re thrilled Golwg y Coed has won this prestigious award, which recognises the quality of the new homes we’ve delivered to create this exciting new community.

“The award demonstrates our commitment to ensuring our customers receive the very best in terms of quality of build and service, and it’s fantastic that the site team’s hard work has paid off.”

Taylor Wimpey’s Golwg y Coed will now compete in the South Wales regional Building Excellence Awards and, if successful, will go on to enter the national awards later this year.
