AN INQUIRY into the portrayal of Barry in a nationwide Channel 4-broadcast documentary has been closed.

TV watchdog OfCom said it had closed the case into Karaoke Nights, which aired in December last year, after saying it had not heard again from Vale Council leader Cllr Neil Moore.

The Barry & District News last week reported how the Authority for Television On Demand (ATVOD) – the independent co-regulator for the editorial content of UK video on demand services – had rejected a complaint from a Barry resident who had viewed footage on the catch-up service before it was removed.

An Ofcom spokesman said: “We responded to the complainant (Cllr Moore), requesting additional information. The deadline for providing this information has now passed and we have received no further correspondence from the complainant. For this reason, the case has now been closed.”

At the time of going to press, the Vale Council had failed to respond to a request asking why the Vale Council had not responded to OfCom.
