Woman assaulted in attempted robbery

POLICE in the Vale of Glamorgan are appealing for information following an incident which took place on Saturday, February 8, between 8.15pm and 8.40pm.

A 52-year-old woman was leaving her house in Scott Close, St Athan, when she was assaulted by a man who demanded money. The woman did not have money on her and the suspect fled from the scene through the St Athan estate.

The suspect is described as being over six feet tall, of medium build and wearing a dark coloured padded gilet with a hood.

Detective Constable Huw Watson from Barry CID said; “This was a very distressing incident for the victim and we are appealing for anyone who may have information concerning this attempted robbery or who may know the identity of the suspect to contact us.

“To reassure the local residents we have increased our patrols in the area and carried out house-to-house enquiries.”
