BARRY Island promenade and the Penarth Esplanade have been temporarily closed due to bad weather conditions.

The Esplanade is closed for public safety due to flooding and overtopping of waves.

A Vale Council spokeswoman said: “We are at high tide at this moment and the road will be reopened once the water has receded and a clear-up of debris has taken place.

“It is advisable that members of the public stay clear of coastal areas at high tides in particular whilst these adverse weather conditions persist.

If necessary roads will be closed at coastal locations but only when there is a risk flooding and/or danger from overtopping waves.”
