A BARRY schoolgirl who became the ‘face’ of a town beauty salon will champion the town at a prestigious pageant this Spring.
Ysgol Bro Morgannwg pupil Millie Charles-Davies is set to dazzle the judges at one of the UK’s largest beauty pageants after winning the Miss Galaxy Teen Barry title.
The year 11 pupil became the ‘face’ of BLush Beauty Boutique, in Park Crescent, Barry, when owner Holly Bennett set up shop.
The pageant, in which Holly is backing her young star, will take place at the Park Hall Hotel in Lancashire in March.
The pageant’s chosen charity is Christie Cancer, which Millie is aiming to raise funds for, but Millie is also closely connected to Marie Curie and will actively be assisting the Daffodil Appeal over the next couple of weeks.
Millie, of Barry, said: “I want to try it for the experience. It’s a really good pageant and I like meeting the other girls.
“I’m not really confident so I am trying to practice walking as much as I can. My family, friends and mum Sheila are really supportive and it’s really nice my parents are going as well.”
The winner of the Welsh title will travel to America with contestants from all over the world to compete in the international final in the summer of 2014.
Millie added: “My sponsor is the very lovely Holly Bennett, who is the owner of BLush Beauty Boutique in Park Crescent, who I’m lucky enough to represent as the 'Face of BLush'.
“I appear on the fascia boards above the shop windows.”
Salon owner Holly Bennett said: “Interested in all things glitz and glam, it was only natural that we would sponsor Millie – the beautiful face of our salon.
“We first spotted Mills on Facebook when her picture was shared while she was in a local competition. As soon as I saw her I knew she was the girl I had been looking for to be the face of the salon.
“She has been a dream to work with, she is modest, professional, sweet natured and we wish her all the best in this adventure and all her future endeavours. I am sure she will be a big success.
“She is as smart and modest as she is beautiful – a real triple threat.”
