TIME will remain stopped still in Barry until March this year following the King Square town hall clock’s malfunctioning in November last year.
The Vale Council’s maintenance contractor investigated the fault, on Bonfire Night, and found one of weight hooks linked to the winding mechanism had snapped.
It was left in a safe condition with the clock stopped.
A council spokeswoman said: “A proposal was prepared by the maintenance contractor to rectify this on November 16 which was subsequently reviewed by the property section.”
Repair and improvement works for the clock are scheduled to begin on January 24.
A further visit to fit all the necessary equipment is planned for week commencing February 24 and the clock is scheduled to be operational by early March 2014.
