THE Vale Council has assured residents its multi-million pound Eastern Shelter and promenade regeneration scheme will continue as scheduled.

The authority dispelled concerns that beach huts, planned as part of the project, would fall prey to damage during bad weather – less forceful than the recent storms.

A Vale Council spokeswoman said: β€œThe beach huts will be of a solid construction and have been designed to sit on top of concrete plinths so should not be affected by bad weather.”

She said there had been some flooding of the access ramp foundations, as they were still below promenade level, but to ease the situation, the flood water was pumped out on Monday, January 6.

No delays were made to work on the scheme as the site was on a two-week Christmas/New Year shutdown.

The Vale Council cleansing team took action each day to deal with problems caused by the weather conditions.
