VOLUNTEERS at a Barry charity shop will be able to take the path to paid employment thanks to a donation from a national charity.

Nova – ValePlus’, High Street, Barry, shop has taken delivery of some new computers thanks to a £1454 donation from the Boshier Hinton Foundation – an organisation that exists to improve life quality for people with disabilities or learning difficulties, and their families.

Nova trains people with learning disabilities and the computers will help them successfully complete employer-recognised employability and work right courses.

Service users learn aspects of employment including customer care, teamwork and tackling problems.

Returning learning co-ordinator and Nova deputy manager, Mair Venables said: “We were struggling with dilapidated computers for them to do their courses.

“We would like to thank them. We really do appreciate this grant as we were struggling with old equipment.”

Service user Rebecca Netherway, who recently gained her qualification, said: “I really enjoyed it.”
