A TRIO of walkers have raised £300 for a Barry-based charity assisting victims of domestic abuse.

25-year-old Claire Ball, who wanted to repay Atal y Fro for its care and help, together with Michelle Morgan and Louise Manning defied weather conditions on a sponsored walk from King Square, Barry, through Sully, to Cosmeston Park, last month.

Claire said: “It took us two hours and was worth every step. We raised £300 for Atal y Fro.

“I am so pleased to be able to give something back to an organisation that helped me in so many ways. I can't thank them enough for everything they did and I am looking forward to planning another fundraising event in 2014. I would especially like to thank Katie for her help and support during my time with Atal y fro and to everybody that sponsored us.”

Louise Kelly Manning said: “I would really like to thank all of the people who have sponsored us.

“Without you we wouldn't have been able to support women’s aid as much as we have. Let's break the silence, let's live in peace.”
