A BARRY drug dealer caught with up to £40,000 of cocaine has been hauled back into court to have his assets seized.

Ashley Woodfield-Sergent, of Moulton, Barry, and James Gerrard, of Cae'r Odyn, Dinas Powys, kept the class A drug at a house in The Gables, Dinas Powys.

Police found Woodfield-Sergent lying on a sofa when they raided the property last December.

Gerrard was arrested after turning up at the house shortly afterwards.

Police recovered 297 grams of cocaine with a purity of 12 to 15 per cent and an estimated street value of £30,000 to £40,000.

On Friday, December 20, Cardiff Judge Jeremy Jenkins ordered that £10,957 be seized from Gerrard and a further £1,328 from Woodfield-Sergent.

Gerrard's assets comprise of cash, funds in a bank account and a motor vehicle.

Woodfield-Sergent's assets consist of cash also in the hands of police.

The pair were jailed at Newport Crown Court on August 27.

Gerrard, 26, and Woodfield-Sergent, 28, both pleaded guilty to supplying cocaine with intent to supply.

Police raided the house exactly a year ago, on December 21 last year.

The court heard how another individual turned up at the house to purchase drugs.

Officers also found £2,580 in cash inside the property and £170 in Gerrard’s car.

Woodfield-Sergent's solicitor advocate, Adam Sharp (corr), said his client had "spiralled out of control in a self-destructive pattern" after losing a job.

Meanwhile, Gerrard said in a written submission his criminality was his "own fault" and that he would learn from it in years to come.

Judge Jenkins ordered that their assets be seized at Cardiff Crown Court under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
